Google Analytics uses cookies that enable an analysis of your use of the website. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is generally transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there.
The STIHL website uses Google Analytics with the “anonymize IP” extension. This means that your IP address collected by the Google Analytics cookie is truncated by Google within member states of the European Union or in other states party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area before being transmitted to the USA. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and shortened there.

3.4.3. Google Optimize
We use the service “Google Optimize” provided by Google (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland) on our website. This service enables us to improve the attractiveness, content, and functionality of our website by displaying new features and content to a selected group of users and by statistically analyzing changes in website usage. Google Optimize is a sub-service of Google Analytics (see section Google Analytics, 3.4.2).
When using this service, cookies are set. The information generated by these cookies about your use of our website is generally transmitted to a Google server in the USA (Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA) and stored there. We use Google Optimize with IP anonymization enabled, meaning that your IP address is truncated by Google within the EU/EEA before being transmitted to the USA. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and shortened there.
Google will use this information to evaluate your use of our website, to compile reports on optimization tests and related website activities, and to provide us with further services related to website and internet usage.

3.4.4. Facebook Conversion Tracking Pixel
As part of usage-based online advertising, we use the Custom Audiences service provided by Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Avenue, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA (“Facebook”). For this purpose, we define target groups of users in the Facebook Ads Manager based on certain characteristics, who are subsequently shown advertisements within the Facebook network. Users are selected by Facebook based on the profile information they have provided and other data made available through their use of Facebook. If a user clicks on an advertisement and is then redirected to our website, Facebook receives information via the Facebook pixel integrated on our website that the user has clicked on the advertisement.
As a rule, a non-reversible and non-personal checksum (hash value) is generated from your usage data and transmitted to Facebook for analysis and marketing purposes. A Facebook cookie is set in this process. This cookie collects information about your activities on our website (e.g. browsing behavior, pages visited, etc.). Your IP address is also stored and used for the geographical targeting of advertisements.
We do not use Facebook Custom Audiences via customer lists, nor the “advanced matching” function.

You can also adjust which advertisements are shown to you on Facebook via the relevant link and within your Facebook account settings.

3.4.5. Integration of YouTube Videos
We use services provided by YouTube, LLC, 901 Cherry Ave., San Bruno, CA 94066, USA, a company of the provider Google, on our website. To protect your personal data, we use the enhanced privacy mode provided by YouTube. When you access a page on which a YouTube video is embedded, a connection to the YouTube servers is established and the content is displayed on the website by informing your browser. According to YouTube, in “enhanced privacy mode,” data is only transmitted to the YouTube servers if you actively start the video.
If you are logged into your YouTube account at that time, the information about the videos you watch will be associated with your YouTube member account. You can prevent this by logging out of your member account before visiting our website. YouTube stores your data as user profiles and uses it for purposes of advertising, market research, and/or tailoring its website to user needs. Such analysis is carried out in particular (even for users who are not logged in) to provide tailored advertising and to inform other users of the social network about your activities on our website. By integrating YouTube videos, we pursue our legitimate interest in making our website more interesting and attractive for visitors and in providing improved presentation of content and information. The legal basis for the use of this plug-in is our legitimate interest.

We also publish our job vacancies on social business networks (Xing and LinkedIn) as well as on StepStone, Azubiyo, and meinPraktikum.
On these business networks and job platforms, our job postings are provided as links only. If you click on one of these links, you will be redirected to our online application tool. Further information on the processing of your personal data in the context of the online application can be found in section 3 of this privacy information.
All data that you submit to us as part of the online application process is processed solely by us and is not shared with third parties. We have no further knowledge of how the respective social platform providers process your data. Please note that the links embedded on our website to these platforms are purely hyperlinks. Data processing by these platforms only takes place once you visit them.
Please note that when using social business networks, the respective providers may gain access to your personal data. This includes data processed as part of your visit or other activities on the respective network or website. Such data may also be used for market research and advertising purposes. We have no further knowledge of the data processing carried out by the providers of these social business networks or websites.

Our job listings on indeed
We also publish our job vacancies on Indeed. In this context, we use conversion tracking provided by Indeed Ireland Operations Limited, 124 St. Stephen’s Green, Dublin 2, Ireland.
If you click on a job advertisement we have placed on Indeed, a cookie (conversion cookie) is set on your device. These cookies expire after 30 days and are not used for personal identification. Their sole purpose is to determine how many applications we receive via our job advertisements on Indeed. The information collected through the conversion cookie is used to generate conversion statistics. We receive information about the total number of users who clicked on our advertisement and submitted an application. However, we do not receive any information that would allow us to personally identify users.

3.4.7. Web analytics tool by mouseflow ApS
We use Mouseflow on our website, a web analytics tool provided by Mouseflow ApS, Flaesketorvet 68, 1711 Copenhagen, Denmark. Individual, randomly selected visits are recorded, and the visitor’s anonymized IP address is transmitted to the provider of the tool.
The tool enables us to record mouse movements and clicks. These can be displayed on a sample basis as so-called session replays and analyzed in the form of heatmaps, allowing us to identify potential improvements for this website. In addition, Mouseflow may display surveys to measure visitor satisfaction. The display of such surveys and participation in them are also recorded via the cookie set by the tool.

3.4.8. Oracle Eloqua
We use the Eloqua service to optimize our communication with customers. The Eloqua servers of the provider ORACLE Deutschland B.V. & Co. KG, Riesstraße 25, 80992 Munich, Germany, are located within the EU. In the context of support and administrative services, it cannot be entirely excluded that individual employees of Oracle Corporation outside the EU may, in individual cases, have access to user data as part of their contractual service provision. We have ensured an adequate level of data protection at Oracle Corporation by implementing appropriate safeguards.
Eloqua places a persistent cookie on the respective registration page, provided that an Eloqua cookie is not already present on your device. STIHL also processes the collected personal data to carry out statistical analyses. These analyses serve the purpose of improving and further developing the products and services offered by STIHL, in particular with regard to product features, product safety, service quality, marketing, and the optimization of the dealer network.
For the purpose of these analyses, personal data is only used to the extent necessary for the aforementioned purposes. Wherever possible, the data is pseudonymized or anonymized before being used.

5. Data processing for marketing purpose - newsletter distribution
On our website, we offer you the opportunity to subscribe to our newsletter. To ensure that no errors occur when entering your email address, we use the so-called double opt-in procedure: after you enter your email address in the subscription field, we will send you a confirmation link. Your email address will only be added to our distribution list once you click on this confirmation link.
The processing of the data you provide when subscribing to the newsletter is carried out solely on the basis of your consent. You may withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future. To do so, it is sufficient to send a short notification by email to the email address provided in section 2, or to click the “unsubscribe” button at the end of each newsletter.
Please note that when sending the newsletter, we perform success measurement and evaluate your usage behavior. For this purpose, the emails we send contain so-called web beacons or tracking pixels. These are stored on our servers and allow us to determine when and how you open our emails. For the purpose of this analysis, we link the aforementioned data and web beacons with your email address.
In this context, we collect basic information such as open rates, as well as information about when you read our newsletters and which links you click on, allowing us to infer your personal interests. If you do not wish such tracking of usage data, you can disable the display of images in your email program by default. In this case, the newsletter will not be displayed in full and you may not be able to use all its functions.
